Monster Hunter 3 Tri box artwork

Monster Hunter 3: Tri is one of Capcom’s biggest titles this year and releases on April 6, 2010 in North America (April 30 in Europe).

The publisher is expecting big sales with this latest game in the popular series, and it’s easy to see why from the impressive trailer below, which is almost entirely made up of gameplay footage.

Despite the underpowered nature of the Wii in relation to the Xbox 360 and PS3, Capcom has still managed to pump ..read the full article

Well, this is no shocker. Microsoft Senior Regional Director for Entertainment, Neil Thompson, told MCV that Modern Warfare 2 will be best experienced on the Xbox 360. You don’t say.

“We want to offer people the best possible Modern Warfare 2 experience,” said Thompson. “We firmly believe that with LIVE services, the quality of the gaming experience on 360, and all the new ways we can get consumers engaged with the IP that Xbox is the best platform to experience this ..read the full article

Capcom Japan recently teased an upcoming announcement regarding Street Fighter IV on their official website. With their “newwarrior” address hinting at…well…a new warrior in the Street Fighter IV universe, Capcom has had the internet abuzz with rumors and speculation on what they’re announcing on Sept. 29, 5PM Japan Standard Time. French gaming news site JV247 got the jump on Capcom with some allegedly leaked screenshots of a couple new characters and even a shiny new logo for Super Street Fighter ..read the full article

Forza Motorsport 3 is undoubtedly a visually impressive racer, as noted in our hands-on time earlier this month. With a robust physics engine, 10 times more polygons than its predecessor and all running on a solid 60 frames per second, Forza 3 is going to be the racer to beat when it comes out this October on the Xbox 360. But despite all the magic voodoo that Turn 10 has performed on Microsoft’s console to churn out the realistic visuals, ..read the full article

Gaming news of the past week

Machima.com’s Inside Gaming covers game news you might’ve missed last week. They do it in a nice, brief video format. The Dead Pixel details the latest news, reviews, and trailers in his own irreverent style.

In week 38, 2009, he talked about: GoldenEye 007 no longer coming to XBLA or VC, Batman: Arkham Asylum has sold 2.5 million copies, new Star Wars Jedi Knights games on Steam, Sega DreamCast games might come to the PlayStation Network, and other random game news.

So it’s pretty obvious that Netflix Instant Watch is a pretty cool thing. What made it super awesome, though, was when it showed up on Xbox Live for Gold members. Of course, being that there is a massive competition between consoles, it only makes sense that supporters of the Wii and PlayStation 3 would wonder if/when the service would find its way to their console of choice. And why wouldn’t it? The thing’s done Netflix a good chunk of good. ..read the full article

Alpha Protocol has always been an interesting concept. Its spy-focused gameplay and choice structures seem to make it a unique RPG (!!) gaming experience, even if parts of it are obviously inspired by games such as Mass Effect. This anticipation and curiosity made me and a lot of other people look forward to the game’s expected October 6 release but, as it turns out, we may have to wait just a bit longer as the game appears to be delayed ..read the full article

The release of The Secret of Monkey Island has brought huge attention back both the Monkey Island series and LucasArts. The Monkey Island franchise has also proven itself a strong IP for developer Telltale but a modder has created something that should bring some awe to mind whether or not you’re a fan of franchise.

Modder Hannes Appell took the 2D art work and visuals of Monkey Island 2 and built it from the ground up in CryEngine 2 as a ..read the full article

At the risk of stating the obvious, which we’re about to do, you should be in the know of what HMV’s head of games Tim Ellis had to say about the launch — or “D-Day” as he refers to it — of Modern Warfare 2.

In recent talks with MCV, Ellis pointed out that “Modern Warfare 2 is one of, if not the, most eagerly awaited games of all time,” which we knew, adding that “customer expectations are very high and we are confident ..read the full article

In light of the upcoming God of War Collection that gives PS3 users the first two entries in the series as well as some minor cosmetic updates, it’s only natural for fans to imagine other PS2 classics getting revived. Answering some community questions provided by 1UP, Fumito Ueda, the creator of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, two games that fit the “Classic” bill quite comfortably, was asked exactly that question. His answer was optimistic if nothing else. “Initially, I ..read the full article

The job of paperboy has long since been replaced by late night deliveries from the back of a windowless van, which is probably for the best considering the job’s inherent dangers - angry dogs, break dancers, swarms of bees and even the sickle-wielding specter of Death.

If Atari’s 1984 arcade classic Paperboy taught us anything, it’s that though less profitable, lemonade stands were much safer an after-school occupation. But that was before this telling video opened our eyes to the truth, ..read the full article

With all the screenshots, videos, interviews and media previews we’ve seen of Borderlands, and the game’s release less than a month away, could it be possible to learn something new about it that would increase the hype this game has going for it even more? Maybe this will do it — everything we’ve seen so far has been from “the noobie areas of the game,” Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford says.

“We’ve been trying really hard to hold things back and not ..read the full article

Batman: Arkham Asylum Prey in the Darkness DLC exclusive to PS3 in America

The Prey in the Darkness DLC content pack for Batman: Arkham Asylum will be PS3 exclusive for America announced Eidos. Only in America though, as it will be released on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in other territories.

The reason for this is probably to keep up the incentive for gamers to purchase the PS3 edition of Batman: Arkham Asylum over the Xbox 360 version, since the PS3 edition exclusively allows you to play as The Joker. Because of ..read the full article

Australia’s decision to deny Left 4 Dead 2 classification was appealed by Valve yesterday, a note sent over by Valve today informs us. While other countries from Germany to Korea have given the zombie killing sim an 18+ or an equivalent Mature rating, the Australian Ratings Board denied to classify L4D2 on September 19th on the grounds of it containing “high impact violence” and for portraying “living humans with a rabies-like virus” — news that saddened Valve and made EA ..read the full article

There’s no news like bad news. Ubisoft has tweeted that the ever popular assassinating Italian guy Ezio of Assassin’s Creed II, who was supposed to be dual-wielding his targets to death this November, won’t be making his PC appearance at the festivities of the Venetian masquerade festival until the first quarter of 2010. The reason given for this delay, as usual, is that the developers need extra time to refine the game in order to deliver the best experience possible.

The Xbox ..read the full article
